Are Banana Clips Better Than Hair Ties?

And she's right. Chloe Swigert, a stylist at He+Loe Studio in Delray Beach, Florida, says that banana clips are a better choice than elastics for almost every type of hair. She tells Allure that clips are better than hair ties if you don't want to mess up your curls because they are kinder to your hair and don't leave weird marks. She also likes how they can make ponytails look a lot fuller.

I laughed at the idea that a banana clip could work for my naturally wavy-curly-hybrid hair, which tends to get pretty puffy. "Just you wait," I told Tran in my head, warning her that her newfound love wouldn't last long for reasons I couldn't really explain. Then I said, "When I was your age..." but stopped when I realized I was sounding like an old man yelling at kids to get their banana clips off his lawn.

Even though they now make "banana combs" that are stronger and more modern, Scünci still makes the same basic, very simple ones that I had when I was a kid. Even though I usually don't pay attention to what the kids (also known as full-grown adults who are about 20 years younger than me) say is cool and just do my own thing, I decided to give banana clips another chance after all these years. What are banana clips for your hair?

As the name suggests, a banana clip is a hair clip that looks like a banana. It is usually made of plastic and helps women pull their hair back and keep it in place. Women can make many different hairstyles with banana clips, like ponytails, curly updos, and 3D braids. Most of the time, banana clips work best on hair that is at least as long as the shoulder.

Is it bad for your hair to use banana clips?

People often think that banana hair clips hurt your hair, which is not true. Banana hair clips are just as safe as any other good hair clip. The only thing you need to worry about is how good your banana clip is. If it is made well, you don't have to worry about it breaking. The way banana clips are made makes it clear that they can't hurt hair in any way.

How do you use banana hair clips?

A banana clip can be used in many different ways. Here are just a few of them.

1. Ponytail with a classic banana hair clip

The idea of using a banana hair clip as a ponytail holder has been around for a long time, but it's still pretty cool for women today. Choose a banana clip. All you have to do is comb your hair backwards and make a ponytail with your hand at the back of your head. Press the ends of the banana clip's jaws together to open them. Place the clip at the base of your hair, close to your scalp. Gather the hairs in the middle of your clip and move them a little bit toward the top of your head. Close the clip, and you're done.

2. Modern Updo Using Banana Hair clip

First, curl your hair to make this style. In fact, you have to gather a bunch of curls on top of your head. This style gives you a fauxhawk like Rihanna, and the banana clip stays out of sight. Do these things: Put your curled hair in a tight pile at the top, where you'll put a topknot. When you're finished, put your hand on the collection to keep it in place. Open the banana hair clip wide and put it deep inside from the back to the front. The curve of the clip should match the shape of your head. Close it, and you're done. To hide the clip, you can curl the ends of the hair around it.
