Who Made Butterfly Clips Popular?

When it comes to hairstyles, you can never go wrong with a "beauty moment" from the '90s. Some of our favorite celebrities have jumped on the "throwback" bandwagon in the past, but the artist formerly known as Camila Cabello recently took us back with butterfly clips, a popular accessory that is still popular today.

Sarah Potempa, Cabello's hairstylist, gave her hair loose body waves, a short middle part, and colorful butterfly clips with tendrils around the face. The popular hair accessory was a must-have from the middle to the end of the 1990s. Tweens and young adults wore it in many different shapes, sizes, and finishes. One of the best things about butterfly clips is that you can just put them in your hair and go. You don't have to match your outfit for the day, just come with the vibes.

Makeup artist Carolina Gonzalez finished off Cabello's look with a neutral smokey eye, flesh-toned pink lips, and airbrushed blush, creating a total Clueless moment. We're sure that a lot of other famous people will copy Cabello's look in their own way.Bella Hadid has become the face of 2021's love for everything from the 1990s and 2000s. She has been wearing temporary tattoos and recently went to Cannes in a plaid two-piece that reminded people of the movie Clueless. Bella is clearly the queen of "channeling childhood but making it fashion," and her most recent Instagram photos show that you can never have too much nostalgia.

On August 15, Bella posted a set of pictures of herself wearing Sami Miro Vintage jeans, kitten heel sandals, and a pastel top with cutouts. Her pictures taken in the sun are the best way to learn how to accessorize. She wore a bunch of different kinds of jewelry with her baby blue outfit, like chunky gold rings and beaded bracelets. If that wasn't enough eye candy, Bella added some blue and green butterfly clips to her tangled hair. They are the ultimate throwback and the perfect gaudy addition to her casual outfit.

The classic mini butterfly clip was bound to come back at some point. Teen stars like Britney Spears, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, and Hilary Duff wore this style a lot in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Megan Thee Stallion and Lisa of BLACKPINK were already fans of butterfly clips in the year 2020. In fact, hair accessories in general are having a moment right now. Dua Lipa wears barrettes on tour, and Ariana Grande often uses hair clips to style her signature ponytail.

The easiest way to join this retro trend is to add some colorful butterfly clips to your own braids, ponytails, or bangs. It's time to add to what we already have.
